What is Mindfulness?

Jon Kabat Zinn describes mindfulness as bringing your complete attention to the present moment. It is paying attention with a non judgemental attitude, and fostering an attitude of  curiosity, exploration, kindness and basic friendliness to everything we experience.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction 8 Week Courses

The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) 8 Week Course is a practical and experiential course. It is a highly acclaimed and evidence based stress reduction programme used in medical centres across the world to help people deal with the stress of modern day living, anxiety, depression and chronic pain. A range of Mindfulness practices will be taught, including gentle stretching and mindful movement,  exploring stress reactions and mindful stress responses, hand-outs, audio practices and guided home practice.

Who is the course for?

The course is for beginners and for people who have meditated before in other settings who want to deepen their practice. The only course requirement is the need to be able to commit to daily home practice working up to 45 minutes a day.


Course Formats

I currently only offer the course on a one to one basis, or you can bring the cost down by sharing with a friend or getting a small group together. Please contact me to discuss options. 

One to One MBSR 

I offer the 8 week course on a one to one basis at my home in Walterstone, or via telephone or Skype. The format is 9 one hour weekly sessions (including one introductory session). 

Cost: £395 by skype or telephone, £425 face to face at my home in Walterstone. 



One to one sessions are available at my home in Walterstone, £50 per hours session. These can be useful to use as a check in with your practice following a course, or if you want to learn the basics and are not sure whether the full course is right for you, or if you have a practice and want to reflect or ask questions on practice.

My Mindfulness Experience

I have been practicing and teaching Mindfulness for over 30 years, in various settings and using various approaches. Since 2007 I have followed the MBSR approach. I am have completed the Mindfulness Teacher Training Pathway Level One with Bangor University and am trained to deliver MBSR and MBCT courses. I follow the Good Practice Guidelines for Mindfulness-Based Teachers and am listed on the UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teachers, having demonstrated (via an assessment process) that I meet the UK Good Practice Guidance for Mindfulness-Based Teachers.
